Finding your purpose

When I've held internships and in my current job, I find myself bored. The only thing I did was dreading the work week and looking forward to the upcoming weekend. My whole life revolves around a job I don't really enjoy as much as I thought I would.

Viktor Frankl once said, "Life is never made unbearable by circumstances, but only by lack of meaning and purpose." So what do you do when you get bored? Like most people, I did everything to avoid boredom.

I recall looking back to my activity log for the week on my phone and noticing most of my hours were spent looking at social media. I would frequent Instagram, constantly refreshing the page to browse new content. I always talked about the latest car or the coolest tech product that came out. I was like a walking encyclopedia. And it was all just useless information!

It wasn't just that. I wanted to go out every weekend and explore the places around me. But soon I ran out of places to see and check out! Sure, I do love checking places out but I just wanted to stay busy and it honestly was such a waste of time.

The main issue is when you become addicted to doing things in a certain way. You get restless when you don't have something planned. This is when we risk wasting all of our free time. You might wonder what we might do with so much time on our hands? Don't underestimate time, it's your most valuable asset. While money comes and goes, time doesn't. Once you lose time you don't get it back and I have learned this the hard way many a time.

That brings it back to my topic. When you have found your purpose, you are never bored at a single moment in your life. You spend every day of your life on your purpose. Your boredom ceases to exist. You don't waste your time anymore with meaningless activities.
